Re:

There's also a job going in the Research and Enterprise Services department for next academic year.

Requires good HTML and PHP skills, and for you to come in 4-5 hours a week. It is more to do with maintaining and updating, rather than creating.

Contact cv7 for more info.

Dinodisability?

Maybe they can't mention dinosaurs because it's politically incorrect to mention the short arms. Can you imagine what it must feel like being a dinosaur with those tiny arms and no opposable thumb? How bitter must you feel? And you'd hate to be reminded, wouldn't you. Kids would go up to you in the ...

Re:

The Centrino processors are still extremely expensive, considering that they're basically a stripped down P4 processor. If you're after battery life, Apple G4 or Transmeta Crusoe based laptops will easily reach 4-5 hours, the latter being slower but more power-efficient. The Athlon Mobile processors...

27 episodes in total, neatly making three DVDs of nine episodes each.

There was a "movie" version which was the whole series trimmed down into one and a half hours. Yuk.

Mmmmm. Appley goodness: http://www.apple.com/hardware/ Best laptops on the market, they are. But this sort of thing is the future, mark my words: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/tabletpc/ There are only a few problems you need to look out for with laptops. Most important is the power issue - make...

Is BT the only DSL ISP you can get in St Andrews or do you guys know of any other ISPs that might be cheaper/better?

You can use any UK ADSL provider. I use PlusNET (www.plus.com). It's great.

I've also started using KDE's noatun over XMMS, simply because it hides in your system tray and displays a little tooltip showing the track title whenever a new track plays.

This looks interesting, but it's probably not as impressive as it sounds. http://www.synapseai.com/brain.asp

Ahh, I see they're a bit crap with the pixel and vertex shaders. Deus Ex 2 will only run on cards with hardware shaders, so these might not be the best buy after all. On the other hand, anything's better than my Radeon 7500. But then when you're playing Half Life on your Dreamcast this hardly matter...

Sequal?

http://home.socal.rr.com/inevitability/HL2/ Judging by the cryptic inside back cover on this month's Edge magazine there'll be a feature on it in the June issue. All this and Deus Ex 2 in a month or two. For those interested, Nvidia will be launching entry-level GeForce FX cards at around the £50 ma...

Yes, you can detect the signal that a TV's watching. The oscillator is used to filter out everything other than a very narrow waveband, but in doing so transmits that frequency out through the arial. It's this that can be detected. You can detect this signal on a small, cheap, piece of (battery-powe...

Or rather, Elite. Multiplayer Elite. On your phone. Yes indeed. If anyone's got a WAP phone, and wondered what to do with it, then they should head to http://wap.phink.net/elite/ and waste their phone bill.
