Re:

Quoting ChrisH from 16:13, 22nd Jan 2008 Plus does anyone know the difficulties involved in getting a photo of a schools competition online? Are there boring regulations to that stuff? Yes there are. You're supposed to have written permission from the parents of every pupil. Tedious. Schools usuall...

Re:

Ooh what fun David. So far a cursory glance – it being late – has thrown up references to then schoolchildren who are now variously a Fellow of All Souls, several World Schools semi-finalists, a current World Schools Champion, a former European Champion and even someone who is still a member of the ...

Re:

Quoting David Bean from 22:16, 7th Jan 2008 I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be very interested to hear of any interesting highlights from any of the debates - new and interesting arguments, and what have you If you look on the Assumption Worlds Facebook group you will see they are still arg...

Also, we have not left Thailand empty-handed, so there will be a trophy for LPH.

Ooh tremendous! Is it one that Dickie can polish or something appropriately ethnic? - we had to have an export certificate for the'cultural treasure' presented to us in Peru!

Everyone has already read all this on Colm or Facebook, right? WUDC won by Lewis and Samir for Oxford A. I was assuming everyone would be following the many other blogs etc running but if not, the final is as follows: Prop 1 Monash A (Tim Jeffrie & Fiona Prowse) Opp 1 Cambridge B (Daniel Warents & Mhairi Murdoch) Prop 2 Oxford A (Lewis Iwu & Samir Deger-Sen) Opp2 Sydney A (Dom Thurbon & Chris Croke) Da...

OK, so a wee bit of research shows that St Andrews A broke.

Doug absolutely self-destructed in extension in round nine, which probably puts St Andrews A out of contention.
Cheers,
-Doug

So you're not breaking then Doug? Only 18th? WELL DONE!!! xxx

Re:

Quoting exnihilo from 12:49, 4th Nov 2007 I also strongly deprecate a rule which bans gowns from other universities, if you are to permit graduates of other universities then you really ought to permit them to wear their proper attire, anything else is incredibly foolish. I remember that it certain...

Re:

Quoting Jessica from 13:59, 21st Oct 2007 What is Maidens? A competition for people who've never spoken at the table in Lower Parliament Hall. Presumably you mean this to read 'as students' - otherwise you exclude all those who have particpated in the Courier or in your schools tournament ... oops ...

Re:

For £250 you can do quite well. TKMax should have some £500 reduced to £200 DJ's. Slaters or M&S will give you off the peg. Slaters DJ's start at £80-£90 upto what ever you wish to spend but remember they will do free alterations. Amazed that anyone dares to recommend T K Maxx after the sniffy resp...

I could do a great job with that.... I'd be perfect.
This is turning into a good thread.

Thank you so much for these, David - written without a trace of irony, it would seem. After a hard day's work I genuinely burst out laughing and felt much better.

Re:

Quoting ChrisH from 23:59, 6th Mar 2007 My sympathies. Try a malt instead? A malt and codeine?! Apparently that increases the drowsiness, whilst not killing anyone it might cause a comma to be inserted somewhere it doesn't normally go! I had actually meant as an option for the next occasion - but i...

For a moment I thought you're ire was at me. How distressing - but I see it's just wonky quoting, you've no idea the relief.

Dr Joss - I don't believe it; you have misplaced an apostrophe.

Quoting TC from 16:40, 4th Mar 2007 David what happened was not a disaster or a crisis. Frankly everyone had a lot of other things to do than worry about the standing orders, such as running the competition.
