Indeed they certainly are linked. But secular Unionism, if encouraged, is a good way to disengage the two. If a club was formed there might be elements within it who thought more about religion than secular politics and fairness, but I think they would be in a minority.

Exactly. My Unionism is not based on religion at all. It is a purely secular choice about what is good and bad, what is democratic and what is not.

A Unionist Club in St Andrews would obviously focus more closely on |Unionist issues than does the current Conservative Association.
