On which point...

Does anyone know where copies or translations of the founding Bulls can be found? I managed to find one line, that the University should be "an impregnable rampart of doctors and masters to resist heresy" but nothing more. Any ideas?

Agreed!

I thought he was brilliant today at that trial - not his usual sometimes annpying self. I recommend watching the whole thing on BBC!

Re:

Anyone who thinks that arguing with Paul is going to make a blind bit of difference to what he thinks is on a fool's errand. This version of Christianity he spouts (this assertion abotu STI's being the most grave of his ludicruous selective applications of so called rules from the Bible) is best lef...

Swastika

The Swasitka is a very auspicious symbol for Hindus. Can't really say if it is for Buddhists.

Re:

I was about to say exactly the same thing. Don't some baptists reckon the Holy Father is the antichrist?

Edit for missing question mark.

Bible and Birth Control

The story of Onan from Genesis 38 is traditionally cited as an argument from the Bible against Birth control (specifically Coitus Interruptus). Genesis 38:7-10 But Er, Judah's first born was wicked in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord slew him. Then Judah said to Onan [Er's brother], "Go in to you...

Debate cancelled

Seems like the BNP think the debate is cancelled:

Personally, I am relieved.

Edited for spelling.

Re:

While I haven't really decided on whether this debate is a good idea or not, I wonder if anyone from either the UDS or the University has though about the potential security/public order problems a debate of this sort might cause? I think a brawl involving Griffin supporters and more militant anti r...

Hmmmm.

Sorry to be a bit of a wet blanket on this, but does anyone remember the unmitigated failure the last time this kind of thing was tried.

I forget the job title then, as well as the chap who was in the job, but I remember it didn't last very long before he got the boot/left?

Re:

I think this stems from the presbyterian tradition, as one of my St Andrews lecturers put it "every day is a day for the glorification of the Lord" and hence no special credence was given to Good Friday/Easter monday.

Re:

If memory serves, accounts should be posted twice per year, but they should be available for scrutiny the whole year round on demand. Why don't you just ask to see them?

For info (as I don't know which hall you're in) see:

Re:

I dont know why they keep putting on acts like this. It seems that they aren't really to the taste of most St Andrews students. I have a vague recollection of there being a ministry of sound event a few years back, and less than a hundred people went. The same year, a Steps tribute band (sic) played...

Damn You Ten!!!

OK, so I log on to The Sinner, and see a thread entitled "The Grid". For a fleeting moment I felt all warm, thinking that I wasn't the only person still grieving the demise of the pop group of the same name from the mid 90's. Who could forget the seminal"Swamp Thing"?) Oh, you have?Refresh your memo...
