Re:

I didn't know we'd run Israel so recently! Certainly not in the last two years. I'm actually quite excited for the Israel debate, and I think it has the potential to draw in a new crowd (possibly of Americans, possibly IR students). Also, I think the motion's well worded (I didn't word it) so that t...

On Maidens...

You're all right. My error. I put down short prep because that's what it was this year and I was trying to remember, but you're all correct, it's going to be long prep so that: 1. People will have a chance to decide whether or not they are interested/wish to come. 2. The Maiden speakers themselves d...

Re:

Glad you like the term card! I think the Freshers debate motion is still up for discussion, but just wanted to keep you informed on what was going on. I think next term we should have 'This house believes space exploration is a waste of time' and maybe something environmental. But I must say, I very...

What fun...

Fabulous Laura, thanks so much!

When it's too hot outside, I can think of nothing better than relaxing with some debating competitions.

And extra thanks to Connie and Doug for holding the trials (and of course Laura for putting up with everyone's schedules). I still want to see Joanna Nairn debate though. Doug, where would I find that? *Side note to Doug: Saw a CNN special on obeisity entitled 'The Battle of the Bulge'. Thought the ...

[quote] Quoting exnihilo from 14:08, 19th Apr 2007 Next, I do not degrade competitive speaking. Although it is not something I ever took part in, I judged for the better part of a decade, was graded 2, raised thousands in sponsorship for it, ensured money for teams to go to World Championships and, ...

I will indeed start with the website. Unfortunately I will not be able to put up the dates and motions for the rest of term until the board meeting. The sponsorship page is being revamped as we speak. Also there will be a page on the Balaka very soon. What other information would you like? If you'd ...

Re:

I cannot believe you're all still talking about this! Firstly, I'd like to say to which ever unregistered users decided to write the offensive remark on a public board, well, I'm not sure that was exactly tactful. Secondly the remark was of an extremely offensive nature, though not intended to be. I...

hmmm

I think I might make a few posters...

Nah, in all seriousness, a lot. Tons. But I'd kind of like to have a board meeting before spelling it all out. After all, I want to make sure I'm communicating the right things and not just what goes on in my silly colonial head!

What Chris explained is true. Also the Internet in my flat is down. I've just updated it for the next debate, the next IV competition, and recent successes (including Worlds). The Solatium date will be posted soon. I'll be trying to updated it as much as possible this coming couple of days. Election...

Obviously, everyone's welcome at the meeting on Wedns.(we're going to regret having put this one on Valentines Day, aren't we) and we'll discus...
