Quoting Laura from 16:56, 11th May 2006 There have been lots of times when SRC members have come to a meeting and have been specifically asked by a student to ask about a worry or a grievance.. I'm sure they have. But that does not mean it is an effective way of doing something. often we find it ha...

Re:

I would say that it is the view of more than one person. That does not necessarily make it the view of the collective.

Re:

If by that you mean a member of the SRC, then no. The point of representatives is to put forward a collective view, not that of an individual. Edit: To clarify: I mean that just asking a representative to put one's views forwards is useless. Either convince them that your point of view is the correc...

Re:

The only way things change is if you make them change. If you feel strongly about something, challenge people to make them change.

Well, after the board was referenced by another non-Chattanite on LJ, I thought it was only my duty to find out what the Chattanites had been claiming regarding the Cabbage Patch.

Re:

The students on the modules are going to be told as soon as the appropriate wording has been put together. I'll also try and get linkup out tonight, but it's more likely to be tomorrow morning. The departments of SOML that are affected are French and Film Studies, but I'm afraid that I may not be mo...

I'm sure big business can wait eight weeks for a research proposal.

Re:

Quoting Lid from 19:19, 9th May 2006 That's not their fault! They have no other tools at their disposal, because sympathetic striking is illegal! Like I said, they could have stopped research. The equivalent to that would be students refusing to eat in halls at protest at rent rises. Stopping resea...

Re:

The people who are now making things take longer than they should are the employers' association. Yesterday was the first proper day of negotiations, and when it was announced that they were going to be having them, UCEA said that it was going to make a "realistic" offer. Given that we are months in...

Re:

Of course you don't have a right to a well paid job, but you do have the right to withhold your labour if that is what you want. I'm not sure how many times I need to say this, but there was no vote . Because the local committee hadn't properly checked the rule book before doing what they did, they ...
