Am just a bit concerned that with only a couple of weeks to go, I have yet to receive the payment schedule, so I can get my first cheque.

There are no cheques this year. It should be paid directly into your bank account.

Student Accommodation Services had to wait until getting the list of new students from Admissions before they could assign the rest of the rooms. You should hear at some point over the next two weeks what your assigned accommodation is. SAS say that all entrant student who applied on time will be gu...

Re:

The SLC is saying that payments for all Scottish students who applied on time will be paid as normal. There is a small number of LEAs in England which are still having problems processing applications. The DFES won't let the SLC say which LEAs it is, as it would mean people calling them to find out ...

Re:

It depends on the contract. Most fixed term contracts don't include any provision for the tenants to quit before the end of the tenancy period, but so long as you can find alternative tenants (and I can't see that being a problem this year) the vast majority of landlords don't have any problems with...

I would be very surprised if there weren't any tickets available, and what there is will be available from the new combined front desk centre in 79 North Street (not the registry as I said earlier) on the day. I don't think there's a way you'd be able to guarantee getting a ticket other than by find...

Apart from dating a member of Academic Council or Court?

I'm not sure if there's any way of guaranteeing in advance that you'll get one, but any that are unallocated on the day are distributed from the Registry, at 79 North Street.

The university is traditionally fine about letting people pay later on in the year, so long as there's a good reason. If you've got any problems, come and see me on the middle floor of the union. As to the means tested element of student loans: you don't pay back the true net present value of your l...

These increases were agreed at the meeting of the university Court in December 2001 and you should have been informed when you applied. On this occasion, the university decided that it was unfair to demand that students who were already here pay such large increases. If you'd like to see the full ra...
