Re: Webmail Spam Filters...

Is there a reason why most society email addresses have been re-named with 'mail' in the title? Surely the @ symbol gave enough suggestion that it was an email address?

Are they making it overly complicated?

CONCEPT - I lied about all those phone calls

Concept - I pretend that the phone calls I receive are business, when really they're from my mother (or someone else)

Someone on the phone, excusing themselves from a conversation (with a serious look on their face).

Re: SKeleton KeY

Well, to be fair, they don't grow it locally, so there's shipping costs to be incurred. And hot water.
The milk is from just round the corner, so yes, £1.70 for a cup of tea is rather steep.
(Even if you do factor in the costs of staffing, washing etc)

Re: What's changed?

I bought that second lot of meat, and it didn't taste any different from the first, nor did it make me poorly.

The Law Surrounding Tips and The Minimum Wage

I found this:

Now show me evidence of this loophole you talk about. Just because someone does it doesn't mean that it's legal.

Re: Barstaff Rant

If you're going to eat out, you do expect to have your food cooked for you, and served to you. This is what you pay for when you accept the prices offered by the restaurant.

10% is a guideline figure. You can choose to tip as much or as little as you want, or feel you can afford.

Re: Marcus Maths Quiz

They're right - it's a hexagon.

Imagine the cube standing on one corner, with the opposite corner directly above it (so you could spin it on a vertical axis). Now cut horizontally between the two opposite (stationary) corners, and you'll find a line that intersects every face.

Re: War of the Worlds

Loads of people listen to STAR, with the majority of listeners in St Andrews, but with people tuning in from all over the world. The presenters, technical crew and everyone involved (there's a team of over 200 people) don't do it for the ego-massage; they contribute their time, effort and skills in ...

Re: Question Time comes to St Andrews!

Sooty has often been said to be a racist bigot; his TV career was saved only by Harry and Matthew Corbett's quick thinking since 1952, but I find this very hard to believe.

Re: Naming?

Not all the student officers were around during the summer when all the work needed to be done.

Does it really matter who did the work? Doesn't mean that responsibility can't be passed on, as long as both parties are happy and comfortable with the arrangement.

Re: Unisex toilets

Wow, news stories about toilets.

I think they should either label the toilets "Female friendly", or not label the toilets at all. Surely it's derogatory to label something?

Re: Naming?

In the run up to Freshers' Week this year, Philippa had a bit more time than James (something to do with an accommodation crisis), and so she took it on. The remits may have crossed over slightly, but surely it's better that the sabbaticals are working as a team, to ensure that stuff gets done, inst...

Re: Freshers' Week - How's it going?

Yes, definitely - you've got plenty of time to find parents! It's much better to leave it a little while and end up with parents who you like, and who will actually spend time with you. Find parents who have an interest in common with you, and who you actually get on with - don't just accept the fir...
