Re:

I didn't get the impression they were in the University - they looked a bit youngish. And also not quite our type ;)

Re:

Aargh! Yesterday as I was toddling into Art History, I saw three half-witted females hanging around on the other side of the street with one of those little video-camera things, peering eagerly in the direction of North Street. My contempt for them knew no bounds. (Although they probably had some pe...

Overseas debate

Is it true that the motion for the Overseas Debate is something about "Yanks go home"? Much as I think this would be hilarious and might make me actually turn up to overseas week just to go, it surely isn't very welcoming for the poor things. I know of several Americans who don't have a sense of hum...

WASPSoc

I say, you know there's a Catholic Society, an Afro-Carribean Society, a LGBT Society, etc, etc - I thought it would be interesting to try and start up a white, straight, middle-class Protestant Society, just to see if one could get away with it. Membership would of course be open to everyone who wi...

.avi files

What program does one use to play .avi files? When I double-click on them it comes up with Windows Media Player but then says "The file format is invalid". Is there some other thing I should download so I can use the file?

Thank you

Coffee shop in the Library

I'm always meeting people in the Library randomly and then end up going for tea and never getting anything done. Why not open a coffee shop in the Library, as they have in some bookshops? I'm sure the handy caffeine would help all the people working there as well. The first floor (second storey) wou...

Skinny-dipping

Can anyone advise me on new and original places to go skinny-dipping when drunk? I am trying to go in as many places as possible before the end of the year. So far I have been at Castle Sands, East Sands, West Sands, the beach by the old Golf Museum, the Melville duck-pond, the Kinness Burn, the lil...

WHAT is that tune?

Can anyone tell me the name of that tune that was in the (British) charts about five years ago? The sole lyrics were something along the lines of "heyy ma ma ma", and it had steel drums and things in it, I think.

Isn't it so annoying when you can't remember what a tune is?

Another "what is that tune" query

You chaps seem to be pretty good at identifying pieces of music, so I hope you'll excuse me asking another one: What is the tune that plays at the start of the end credits of the film "The Jackal" (which stars Richard Gere and Bruce Willis)? Oh, also (and this is a bit of a long shot) does "put your...
