Quoting macgamer from 10:09, 14th Oct 2007 All of this arguing has been detrimental to both sides and most regrettable. It is certainly something that needs to be avoided at all costs in the future. Well in that case, how about you call off your cronies at the Catholic Church and tell them to stop ...

And why then sell yourself to THE SUN?! after all that?

Would you say no to being paid £3,000 for something that would probably have been reported anyway, and which will be quickly forgotten?

It shouldn't make a difference, as long as your outgoing server is set to mailhost.st-andrews.ac.uk. You'll also need to be connected to the VPN to send messages (but not to receive) when you're not hooked up to the University network.

Perhaps I should explain that the reason for the subwoofer is that the infra-red receiver on our shitty eBay-bought TV was damaged in transit when we bought it, meaning that there's no way of controlling its volume as the remote does not (and will never) work. Even the buttons on the front of the TV...

Physicists!

Here's a problem for you: 1 subwoofer. 1 wooden floor. 1 flat below. 2 potentially soon-to-be-annoyed neighbours. Solution? I understand that the subwoofer needs to be "decoupled" from the floor, to prevent the building physically resonating with the speaker. What would be the best material? Some ki...

It's really not worth getting all het up about though.

Yes, because if there's one thing you've taught us all during your time on The Sinner it's the virtue of letting things lie and not getting agitated about the little things. Oh, wait...

Incidentally, the results of this survey seem to complete the set for St Andrews this year - 4th in the UK in the Guardian league table, 5th in the UK in The Times and the Good University Guide, a substantial lead as 1st in Scotland in all three of the above, and now the top university in Britain fo...

I don't think this is the site you're talking about, but I've always found the Book Depository to be excellent. It gives a direct price comparison to Amazon, and is usually cheaper. Highly recommended:

I had a feeling that would happen. So strong a feeling, in fact, that I looked up the definition of 'whence' before I posted, but decided that the reply and answer of "from whence?" "from hence" sounded too good to bow to pedantry. Had the original poster asked "whence?", I would, of course, have re...

Look here if you want a provider offering monthly contracts. Some also offer free phone with broadband.

I notice that the thread is from last year - which provider did you eventually go with? Were you happy with them?

Here's a question for them - why do they advertise on the Piccadilly Line, when for the mostpart, it's underground and without signal?!

Why don't you text it to them?
