hangover cure

Postby johness on Thu Feb 24, 2005 12:42 pm

Oh wow. I overdid it big time last night (I was so gubbed I came home and fell asleep in the shower, fully clothed) and am suffering the consequences. What will make it go away?!

[hr][s]She comes apart at the seams 'cause she never dreams, and she lays up awake, 'cause her feelings ache and the one thing she found as she gazed at the sea, was she lost her faith...her faith in me.[/s]

most of a hangover is a result of dehydration- or so i've read- so be sure to drink lots of things like orange juice and water.

Get your salt, sugar and water levels back up, so crisps and water are good.

Nice breakfast like cereal and couple of boiled eggs with toast. Pot of real coffee. Litre of orange juice. Drink 2-litre bottle of fizzy water (available Tesco price 47p) throughout the morning; coffee mid-morning. Nice lunch, more water, then bed early after tin of chicken soup. And plenty of vitamin tablets esp C and E.

Water, strong painkillers, vitamin C in form of suppliments, or fruit/fruitjuice, something with tomato in it to eat, like cream of tomato soup. Marvelous cure. Also, even if you don't think your actually going to be sick, if you put a suitable "puke catching devise" right next to your bed like a bin or bucket, you feel a bit more comfortable with the assurance that if you do suddenly hurl, there's somewhere for it to go.

dude, I am sorry to say that after 7 years experimentation the only cure for a hangover is time and maybe some ready salted crisps

If you are planning a drinking session this is the ultimate way to making you feel good after only a few hours' sleep... trust me it works!

1) before the drinking starts eat a good carbohydrate meal - pasta is good (not suitable for atkins people)

2) while you are out drinking take some supplement tablets called milk thistle along with the booze, works well.

3) before bed drink plenty of water, if you are able to.

4) in the morning your blood sugar levels will be dangerously low after all the booze so eat something that will get into your blood stream quickly and reverse the dehydration and get your levels back to normal - a sugary cereal is good.

5) continue drinking water, but don't go near coffee, or tea - it's the worst thing the morning after as it will dehydrate you further.

This works well and you will be revitalised, energetic and it will make your friends sick to see just how on-top of things you are.

Failing this, a good alternative is a good strong bloody mary. Here is my secret recipe.

Large shot of vodka
Large glug of good tomato juice - not the concentrated stuff.
A few twists of black pepper and sea salt
A dash of lemon juice
A few dashes of tabasco sauce
A few dashes of worcester sauce (not the illegal one but lea and perrins)
A few blocks of ice

Mix the above together, then drink together with a stick of celery. Divine and will leave you feeling great.

150ml of cream soda
150ml raspberry drinking yoghurt
2 fizzy vitamin C tablets

combine first two in a pint glass

add tablets and stand back

drink then go back to bed.

Actually have found the best EVER pre-hangover cure...If you take a milk thistle tablet before you crash out unconscious, you will suffer NOTHING the next day. Its really good for your liver cause it clears toxins or something. Ive not had a hangover yet!
