Long distance relationship

Postby Unregged on Tue Sep 20, 2005 8:02 am

So, I've just left my darling girlfriend up studying in St. Andrews, whilst I am left to wait a year before going to University down in Glasgow.

I'm not a stranger to long-distance, but... it sucks. Anything different in this case? Since she's in halls etc.. it's apparently free to stay for up to three nights in a row in her hall, before you have to pay.

Shame she has a room-mate ;o

My ten points to long-distance relationship success:

1) Get a Railcard. Seriously, they're useful.

2) And meet up in St Andrews if it's for longer than the weekend, if only because it's less likely to rain.

3) Visit often, keep in touch. Get MSN and Skype working. Get a cheap mobile setup between the two of you.

4) Remember that Glasgow and St Andrews are only 2 1/2 hours apart by bus. It can't be any worse than overnight trips on National Express from Manchester.

5) Find out train routes. They're far more comfortable than the bus, and cheap if you book more than 2 weeks in advance.

6) Er...

7) That's it.

8) Investigate the possibility of a three-some... ;)

...but then again, that is only my opinion.

Tip:

Don't use the word 'darling' ever again.
I listen to feminists and all these radical gals - most of them are failures. They've blown it. Some of them have been married, but they married some Casper Milquetoast who asked permission to go to the bathroom. These women just need a man in the house. That's all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. And they blew it and they're mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They're sexist. They hate men - that's their problem. ~Jerry Falwell

Similar problem, though my "darling" is going to be in Spain. Any other suggestions?

Cheers
