room only for a semester

So the question would be, how likely is it to find a room in private accommodation only for a semester? I am going on a semester abroad (2nd next yr) and I really really really do no want to go back to halls...What are the odds?

Pretty low - although you can always sign the lease for the year and then find someone else who is looking for a place and will just be here for the 2nd semester.
Or else inform the estate agents next November that you wish to terminate your contract - you will have to pay a bit extra but it might be worth it.

Really high! Look at the number of rooms available on the accommodation board for evidence of this! I know loads of people who chop and change, drop out etc between semesters, I'm sure you can find something. The accommodation board in the union is covered in rooms available notices too, so I wouldn't worry about it

well, i would not be worried at all if i left in the first semester because there seem to be pleny of available rooms for the second semester. however, my situation is exactly the opposite and that is what worrying me...with so many students looking for flats why would the landlord bother to rent it for half of the year? :-/
