Visitors in Freshers week

Does anyone know if signing vistors into the union is the same as usual during freshers week? Can you just by a pass in the general office? My friend is from another Scottish uni and I was wondering if I'll be able to get her into the union while she's in St Andrews. Thanks!

I dont know about this year, but usually during Fresher's you arent allowed to sign people in. On the other hand if she does have a vaild matric card for a Scottish uni that is part of the agreement thingy that we can use their union and they can use ours, then u dont need to get a pass for her, she just needs her card.

Eek, does anyone know if the agreement extends to all UK unis? I have a couple of friends coming up who I need to introduce to Rock Soc.

Yes, almost all uni's. There are some notable exceptions such as Manchester.

P.S. to be quite honest the doorstaff don't really know which uni's are and aren't allowed in (there is a list but they rarely check it) so I'd just try your luck even if they are at one of the ones who don't get in.

Also during freshers week the freshers haven´t received their matric cards yet, and so most people just get in by saying they´re freshers with no matric cards. They do give you those "make your own card" things, but I never used them

I heard rumours that they're supposedly cracking down on this sort of thing this year. Can't say for sure, though.

If she has a matric card from another S. Uni AND she is over 18 she should be able to get in without a problem and without being signed in.

If she's does not have a matric card from another place, it's a bit harder...
You have to sign her in officially. Personally I'd try to get an extra freshers pass (they are pretty easy to find if you look) and get her to do a passport photo and fill it out and get it laminated. Gives you about a week in the Union.

in all the previous freshers weeks ive been to, you've not been allowed to sign guests into the union. im guessing there will be no change.
as for the temporary entrance cards, you could do that, but is it that important that you go to the union? there are plenty other pubs you can go to. :P
