where can i get a tatoo done? is there any place in st andrews that offer such a service? if not, whats the nearest place i can go and get one?

for those that do have a tatoo, what kind of designs are usually thought trendy? tribal? i am thinking of having a tatoo going down my arm from shoulder to hand, not too thick but one of those cool tribal like designs.

There's a place in South Street that does tattoos - just next to Microshop, opposite Janettas. Can't say I like them much myself, though. Imagine when you're old and wrinkled, and it's still there with you...

Tattos rock, and most women like them, although some won't admit it. As long as it isn't something stupid like a girls name or something then it'l be ok. I'd suggest you get something unique like mine. I got a friend to design it.

I went to tribe in Edinburgh because I had good reports. It's excellent. I'd recomend for you to get one, but it took me 2 years to decide on the right one.

Yeah i've heard nothing but good things from tribe, theres one in glasgow now aswell i hear.

Getting a tatoo is cool, let there be no doubt. But for the love of god dont get one of those shitty japanese symbol tatoos, its really really not cool. People think there unique but there really not, its been getting done for years and years.

I thought I had designed one of my very own and was determined to use it one day as a tatoo, but alas I realised about a year ago that its a variation of the symbol for chemical or biological weapons!!! Guess I was just lucky I hadnt got the tattoo already huh?

Oh and Haunted, if there so great how come you dont have one? ;o)

My sister got one of those 'trendy Japanese symbol' tattoos mentioned above. She asked for the Japanese symbol for tranquility on the small of her back. About a week after it was done my family was having dinner with some friends. My mom asked their Japanese exchange student as a joke to 'translate' Ash's tattoo. She took a look at my sisters back and told my mom "It says 'cheap.'" she even whipped out her little translator thing, and there it was. So my sister gets to live her life with 'cheap' tattooed in Japanese over her ass crack.

They did go back to the tattooer and demanded an explanation- apparently it's the first of a three symbol combination in Mandarin Chinese that stands for peace, but on it's own . . . anyhow at least it looks pretty.

I got a tattoo done a couple of weeks ago. I went to 'Angels' the place on South Street.

I got a butterfly, black outline, no colour, on the inside of my leg, just above my ankle.

The place was really clean, cheap (£10 for mine) and the guy was really nice - even if he did ridicule me for being a student!

Tips -
Make sure you get something you really want.
Don't be afraid to personalise their designs.
Don't kid yourself into thinking it won't hurt. It does. It's worth it though!

Ha! Now that is funny...and misleading. Some women do like them of course, but many do not so don't generalise and mislead the poor guy. And it is fair to say that most women do not like full arm-length tatoo's and neither do most employers. And neither do the people who get them who then change their mind and have to pay thousands of pounds to have it removed.

You don't sound exactly clued up on the subject so perhaps you should do some research before doing something that can only be reversed if you are prepared to pay that amount to do it. Otherwise you're stuck with it and one of the size you are suggesting still has very negative associations with it in general society.

I had a tattoo done on the top of my back last year and I love it. I got something that was special to me and relatively unique, but its meaning was the most important thing about it.

It didn't hurt much either. I've heard loads of reports from people saying it hurts, but mine was nothing more than a slight burning sensation, and mine's both filled in and outlined. BTW, I'm a guy and girls to love it!

Yeah soz. I hate full arm tattoos aswell. Don't get one of those. Mine is about 2 1/2 inches or so.

i was wondering, y'know how theres the wee thing as to whether girls like tattoos on guys...well how about guys liking tattoos on girls...i'm planning on getting one this summer

A couple of my friends got tattoo's from the st andrews place - I have to say they look really amature.
There used to be a place called grahams in Dundee - DON'T GO THERE.
I think it's shut down but if it's still open don't go there - they don't use clean needles!!

I reccomend a place in Falkirk if you can get there. It not only has all the certificates, it also has awards. They will do 5 yr tattoo's which are cool.
