Graduation Question

Postby Rosanna on Sat Jan 26, 2008 6:58 pm

This is probably a silly question but I can't seem find any information on the uni website...

How does graduation work? I know it runs over three days but how can I find out when my actual ceremony will be (is it done by subject, alphabetical order, e.t.c)? I need to know what dates to book with regards to accommodation for my family. Thanks! :)

Hey! I graduated last June so can offer a wee bit of help. Your graduation will either be held in the morning or the afternoon on one day over the graduation week, which is followed by a garden party (which is lovely!). Each ceremony has several related subjects eg medicine and biology and is done in alphabetical order within your subject and degree title. The graduation ball was on friday of graduation week last year so I guess that will be the same again.
You probably won't hear about dates (provisional dates!) until the beginning of next semester I think so try not to worry too much yet...there is time!
if you're still worried you could email the head of your department/school to see if they know any more details.
Hope that helps!
