Is Olive Oil actually good for dry/cracked skin

Postby Nymphomanic on Fri Jun 13, 2008 7:23 pm

I've been told by various people that Olive Oil is a great moisturiser for very dry skin that keeps cracking. Is this so?

I'm sure it's great, but personally I don't like the oily texture, or the smell on my skin. Recently I've started using doublebase (got it on prescription but maybe you don't need that, take a look in boots). It's great, not too greasy, even my sensitive skin doesn't react to it, pleasant, neutral smell. Perfect! Try applying 4 times + a day if poss.

Dermol 500. Its the shit. Use it as a replacement for your soap, not as a lotion.

Thanks guys, I might try the products recommended above before I start of slapping on olive oil. After all, it does smell a bit like, well, food. x

You could always try using olive oil soap first. My folks are currently trying to set up a line if you want me to give you a quote... :)

...then again, that is only my opinion.

The best is just bog basic un-branded aqueous cream from a chemist (Boots usually have a huuuge tub of it for a couple of quid). You can use it instead of soap but it's great as a moisturiser and about as cheap and "neutral" as you can get.
