Alumni email forwarding

Postby Amorphous on Thu Nov 06, 2008 8:03 pm

Basically: having got the scary 'you've graduated so we're killing your account on 30th November' email from ITS, I've set up the alumni email forwarding thing to go to my gmail account but am still confused about one thing.

I know that the forwarding thing gives me a [name]@alumni.st-and.ac.uk email address, and the ITS email says that after the 30th of November all emails sent to my original address will bounce. Is this true even if I've set up the alumni address, or will emails to [name]@st-and.ac.uk instead arrive at [name]@alumni.st-and.ac.uk and in turn be forwarded to my gmail account?

I feel a bit daft asking this but figured I should check, particularly given that the ITS 'bounce' warning comes before they tell you about email forwarding so it's not very clear whether or not it applies.
If Jack Bauer was put in a room with Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler and Nina Myers and handed a gun with two bullets, he'd shoot Nina twice.

As I understand it, yourname@st-and[rews].ac.uk will bounce, yourname@alumni.st-and[rews].ac.uk will be forwarded.
