Yes there is a gym in St Andrews at the Athletics Union near the North Haugh, not a particularly nice one but a gym all the same and it's very cheap. You have to go for an induction (on Mondays), which takes less than an hour, involves signing a form and watching some guy show you how to operate the machines. After that it only costs 90p to use the gym for an hour but you can also buy blocks of 10, 20 or 40 passes which works out a lot cheaper if you plan on using all of them. Hope that helps!

There's a gym in the old course hotel and the bay spa hotel as well. They've got saunas and pools but it costs shitloads to use.
