Love in one sentence...

Postby aThinkingGuy on Sat Nov 15, 2003 8:16 pm

I don't know if there's a taboo surrounding non-student posts. If there is I'll just shut up.

Anyway, I'm a prospective student hoping for admission next year, and would like to ask how you would describe the St Andrews romance/dating/candlelight supper scene in one sentence.

Best quote gets first prize, which is silent affirmation from all the people who read this forum.

Thanks!

Love is talked about mostly by those who are bitter about the lack of it in their lives.

Love is sweet and fun, and with a lot of nothing to do in St. Andrews that means a lot of nights together in bed.

many people seem to think that there is practicaly no dating scene here...

i guess it's down to the town being so small. a dating scene (as in actually dating rather than going out for a meal with a gf/bf you met a month ago) really only exists in bigger places, where you can only see the person every so often to begin with...

i think dating also takes off more when you leave university and you have less time to get plastered and pull and go out for drinks with people.

depends on what you mean by dating.

sorry bout the sentence rule, i just can't be bothered thinking that hard :P it is almost 3am so forgive me.

Well maybe that depends on when you actually grow up.

seriously, take time to have fun with friends- there's more love there than in a hell of alot of relationships. being single is so underrated.

that would be because you are filthy, and do not uphold the bohemian ideals of truth, beauty freedom and love.

I still don't see the link between that and love, though

Im not talking about me here, I'm talking about st.andrews in general. The getting plastered and pull comment was a joke... Those that do actually date (as in meet someone new and go out for dinner... not just going out for meals with a current girlfriend) are in the minority here, and most people generally stick to going for drinks/cinema and other typically non-romantic excursions.

And that is because of the size of twon and ease of getting together regularly so that the traditional dating with gaps in between doesn't really happen.

It's got nothing to do with growing up tho so you should get off your high horse.

Love is patient, Love is kind,
It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud, It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.

Love always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.

Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends.
