The Rise of Western Christendom, by Peter Brown, 2nd edition.
Recommended for ME1003 (Crisis and Transformation in the Early Medieval World)

Europe in the Sixteenth Century, by Andrew Pettegree
Really really useful for MO1006 (The Early Modern Western World) -this book had some highlighting inside when I purchased it, but it was actually really useful for skimming so not a problem. It covers most of the first half of the course brilliantly. Plus it's written by the best lecturer on the course.
