I for one have found plenty of nice single guys at St Andrews. And yes, a few of them are frequent posters on the sinner. One of them is no longer a single nice guy though as I am dating him.

In my experience, when it comes to St Andrews boys its often a case of "nice/single/straight - choose two." But of course there are exceptions, you just have to keep trying till you find them

hmm, i wouldn't really say that in all cases. Sometimes it can just be shyness.

Believe it or not I used to be really shy, and to some extent I still am. Its well hard to get two shy(ish) people together because neither likes to make the first move.

The only solution I have found in the past is to spend loads of time with them then get drunk and see what happens - no sex though.

Hey, don't make generalisations...I for one don't know a single girl who is attracted to a guy solely or even primarily on aesthetics. Note the use of "nice" as an adjective rather than "hot"!

Anyway...as most of the girls on here have pointed out, we know there are plenty of nice, single guys in St Andrews.

It's all very well saying that many girls and guys can't look beyond looks and I agree that of course that should not be the reason for going out with someone. However, you have to find them in some way attractive and whether you like it or not, you've got to find them physically attractive for it to go meaningfully beyond close friendship.
I wouldn't consider myself shallow, but I as I wouldn't go out with a guy I couldn't talk to, I wouldn't go out with a guy I didn't find physically attractive.

physical attraction is plainly imperative in a healthy relationship, but luckily evaluations for such attraction vary across the board.

for instance, give me a nerdy girl with black-framed glasses and a little bit of meat on her bones over a plastic barbie type anyday.

Yeah - everyone is different. I am pretty much attracted to happy smilling eyes and mouth, and thats pretty much it. If you have those then it moves onto personality etc.
