Practice on waving and saying hi to complete strangers, if you can do that, you will find that saying hi is not a big thing.

Another technique is to wave past him.

Thanks, i know it is so simple, i think that i will just have to stop worrying about what he thinks about me, afterall what you say only counts for about 10% of the impression you make on someone.
