So I hear from my female friend from Scotland that guys there are just experts at convincing a girl to sleep with them and that this is all that interests them in a girl... According to her, a woman just can't resist their amazingly well-thought tactics of "seduction"! So please, everybody -- guys, girls -- tell me if there is any truth in that!
(I guess I should mention that I am an "international" JYA student who is coming to St. Andrews in September.)

P.S. Please forgive my English -- I know I must have made mistakes, but I haven't practised it all summer.

I don't think 'seduction' is really the right word for what goes on. 'Seduction' sounds far more romantic than *anything* I've experienced in St Andrews ...

That's not to suggest that what *does* happen isn't nice :-)

Woah -- that was VERY helpful everybody! Really. Thank you! However, I feel like I should be more exact: what PRECISELY my friend said was, "Scottish men will seem extremely charming and nice and will buy you drinks and everything on the first night just to get you in bed". ... but maybe *dunqn* was right about my friend...

I would hope that any woman independent enough to go abroad for a year on her own would be able to resist the advances of a man she does not intend to shag.

On the other hand, I want to know who these men are, throwing free drinks around like confetti...they don't sound Scottish to me!

Load of cack, us scottish lads are fine, of course theres some arseholes, as there are everywhere, but no more than the normal number you would expect. Anyway, do you realise that coming to st.andrews you probably wont meet many scottish men, you would be better asking your mates what their experiences with american and english men are like as they are far more common around the place.
