Songwriters out there?

I'm a first year student, and I would really like to start a band. I play the guitar, and I'm really looking to find a songwriting partner. Some of the bands I'm listening to at the moment are The Smiths, Talking Heads, The Clash, Gang of Four, The Velvet Underground, The Paddingtons etc, not that thats really important.
Ive written a few tunes and I would just really like to meet somebody who wants to make music. From there I would like to get a band going.
