Red Telephone Boxes

Postby tintin on Tue Mar 16, 2004 8:09 am

Nothing can be sadder at 8am outside Sallies to see a lorry carting off one of my favourite British icons, the K2 red phone box. It ranks up there with Routemasters (being phased out) and London Taxis.

Good gracious-I thought they were not allowed to remove them any more. This is a travesty.

There's one on the junction near DRA. Guard it with your lives.

it'll be post boxes next. Let's start the WE LOVE RED campagin. We can all wear red socks, like Pandora did in the Diary of Adrian Mole--remember that one?

We could also sing songs like the Red Flag--hurrah!

Yet another reason why mobile telephones must be wiped off of the face of the earth, they're killing off telephone boxes.

A friend of mine bought one (from where, i don't know). His lies in the middle of a field, removed once a year for harvest. Quite an odd sight, probably the most interesting thing about Overtown. In fact there's no probably about it.

And if you really want one then be prepared to pay about a grand.

If you mean the one near wishaw then yeah it is probably the most exciting thing about it.

Although a friend of mine has one in their garden-working phone and everything- ive always wanted one- and one of the old Edinburgh Police boxes.- but I dont know if theyre for sale....

My neighbours have one in their back garden. Although I live right in the middle of what used to be church grounds, so I have a lot of next door neighbours.
