If you could send a letter of advice back in time to your newly-arrived 1st year self what would you say (aside from factual information such as lotto numbers)? Would you try to change anything important or do you like the way things have turned out?

Don't drink the water in Melville!

[hr][s]Rizzo: What's wrong?
Gonzo: It just feels so weird.
Rizzo: You mean that Mr. Aeral's dead?
Gonzo: Yeah, that... and my pants are filled with starfish.
Rizzo: You and your hobbies!

Bring an extra blanket, DRH heaters didn't work in my room for about 3 weeks. Secondly, don't drink the water from your tap, found out it was tank water in second year having successfully drank 1 litre+ of water everyday, fortunately it was mainly from the kitchen though.

probably I'd tell myself not to worry so much about getting really good marks in 1st and 2nd year, because it really doesn't matter. Also i'd tell myself to be calmer about things and less passionate about things that in the grand scheme of things don't matter. Be more tolerant, more relaxed. Enjoy more, think less.

Drink a hell of a lot more at Raisin Sunday and dont accept so much damn water from ur academic parents! You'll appreciate it a lot more when you wake up the next day with not even a hint of what you did compared with remembering eveery embarrasxsing detail!

Let others make their own mistakes. And them bring them chocolate and hot cup of tea.
As for yourself, make loads of friends but be sure to drop the leeches and parasites.

Granted, I'm only a second year, but things have changed from the scared-as-hell-what-am-I-doing-in-scotland-Preston of Overseas Weekend.

I'd keep the letter short and sweet.

It would say,

"Dear Preston,

Chillax.

Sincerely,

Preston. "

Don't stand for Rector. Nobody will appreciate it and the only advantages are that it brings your enemies into the open and reveals that some of them were people you thought friends.

Oh, and try not to be so bitter.
