In which language do bilinguals dream?

Well I suppose I'd have to say yes. It tends to happen to me in a deja vu form ie. I remember a dream....an amount of time passes and then what ever I dreamt happens...I think "that's weird"... but it's not until later in the day that I remember I dreamt it.

Does anyone else sometimes know the telephone will ring before it does?

Golly, the tooth dream. It really is so scary, I hate it every time I get it. Apparently something to do with a guilty conscience but if anyone knows the correct "interpretation" I'd be much obliged!

That happens to me too! Just ordinary scenes which puzzle me when I dream them and then forget.

To answer this thread's original question (gasp!) I tend to dream in English - my first language - for happy comfy nice dreams, and French - my second - for confused/scary dreams.

Occasionally my brain spices it up with a little German and Italian, but I think that it's just showing off.

That said, my roommate claims I speak in tongues in my sleep...

I sometimes have dreams where I see myself in the dream - the dream can be watching me do something. Funny enough, all my memories are like this - I see me in my memories, not from my point of view (as I always imagine they ought to be)

Anyone else like this?

I'm bilingual in English and Greek and I dream in both languages! English is my mother tongue. I find I also think in Greek a lot!

Ive always been one to dream, i usually remember at least one dream a night. Ive also dreamt things that have come true, i once dreamt the exact score of a rugby match i saw the next day! Freaked me out quite a bit :p
And im also pretty much biligual - not quite fluent in German, but i dream in German maybe a third of the time and English the rest.

Being multilingual I have dreamt in numerous languages.....English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Arabic, German and French and a dialect called Mirpuri - don't know why I do that - I also "think" in different languages too but it does pose a problem for me when I'm looking for a word in English and can only think of it in another language (bit of a problem in tutorials!!)

I have had the falling down and waking up with a sudden jolt dream - dunno what that means - anyone care to tell me? I've had the teeth falling out dream - or recently just one of my front teeth fell out. As soon as I woke up I instinctively put my finger in my mouth to check the tooth was still there but it felt so real in the dream!!

I also have dreams when I'm running to catch something but can't catch it or when I'm doing something relatively simple like pouring a cup of tea and for some reason the cup never fills up so it takes ages but then I wake up before I ever get to sit and have that lovely cup of tea in my dream!!!

Maybe I'm just a multi lingual loony??

I dreamt about a killer raindrop the other night. A few nights before then I dreamt about a plague of ducks. And that's the lighthearted stuff. My dreams are so surreal and wonderfully detailed, it's just fucked-up. I can still remember dreams from childhood, in particular one that I had when I was about two, I can still see it in my head.

Are dreams stored like records in a jukebox, because sometimes I have dreams that I'm sure I've had before. And another thing, does anyone get that thing where they realise they're dreaming so they start choosing what to do in the dream so it turns out better or funnier?

I do that too!

Another problem I have is at my sign language classes. As you're signing, you're supposed to mouth the words in English at the same time, but for some odd reason, I automatically mouth them in Greek!!

The ones that worry me is when I dream I'm someone else. And occasionally dreaming in Spanish, even though I don't really know any.

Oh, and I once dreamt in Fortran 77. I figured it was time to cut back on the programming after that.

I have always spoken French and English, but have lived in France my whole life. Therefore I have always, and still do, dreamed in French. Even when dreaming of my Gran, who never knew French, she spoke French in my dreams, with her voice, was quite weird.

My sister talks in her sleep, too. It's complete gibberish. But the thing is, it doesn't sound like gibberish until you listen very carefully. It sounds more like she's..mumbling, just speaking indistinctly.

I speak English and French, and dream in both, I suppose based on which one my brain is tuned in to when I go to bed. On Wednesday I was dreaming in French, last night English, however both were very strange.

I think dreams are just plain weird. I have had two dreams recently where I was on a boat and it sunk! The second one involved my auntie's now deceased dog and it somehow survived getting run over by a large boat! I don't see how this relates to my subconsious at all unless I never got over the death of the dog! But that was quite a few years ago now. Weird.

Last night I dreamt I had lots of strange mouth ulcers and woke up worried about my mouth, lol.
