I always thought karma was a way people justified inaction against injustice?

give the bastards chechnya, it's a crappy little place that's been bombed for the past 10 years, why would russia want it anyway.

Probably just about the worst thing Putin could do at this stage. You are essentially saying, "here, as a reward for murdering hundreds of innocent children, you can now have Chechnya. And all you other terrorist scum out there...if you want to get what you want, horde some children into a gym and blow them and their parents and teachers up." An unwise proposition methinks.

Putin will not give up Chechnya because almost his entire political career is based on finding a solution to and stabilising the Chechen issue, his credibility would be shot to pieces if he relinquished it. Also, it would probably be unwise for Russia to cede the territory because it could then claim sovereign state status and the Russians would no longer be able to influence the affairs of the terrirtory in a legal manner. Thus they would create a lovely little hive of anti Russian, highly radicalised Islamist sovereign people who's goal has nothing to do with Chechen independence, but anarchy and terror in Russia. So there's a bunch of reasons why they shouldn't, won't cede Chechnya.

Anyway, how are you doing these days? I'm back in Glasgow, London sucked.

Hmmmm if Putin were to give up Chechnya as the rebels want then he is essentially joining in their game, opening the door for any other rebel groups. Lots take a school hostage and get what we want... the rebels have to get nothing out of the siege to prevent similar things in the future...
