Yes. Skipping all those lectures seemed like a good idea at the time.

hey, all sounds very familiar. not looking forward to the exam tomorrow...and also can't be arsed to do these stupid readings.

am i right in thinking that we'll prob get a 5 if we just do the 'key readings' (e.g speaking with names/sperm + egg/ kinship/ taro gardening etc....)???

anyone reading this and has never done soc anth will be very confused, actually i do soc anth and i'm confused too! any help would be appreciated

I think if u just know the key points of what the topics are about, and encorporate them in to your own knowledge, u shud be fine.

You just need to know some important names and add ethnographic examples, and im sure that will get you more than a 5!

Your own knowledge?? What if you don't have any? Argh! I hate this subject so much! What is this subject all about?? I went to most of the lectures but fell asleep after about 5 or 10 minutes.

i know, i had the exact same problem, i went to almost every lecture for the first month, but fell asleep every single time. invariably found myself waking up to some sort of bangle-wearing weirdo jibbering on about vaginal mucus. the worst is when your head starts nodding forward and back, because your trying to battle your desire to sleep, and everyone's looking at you, hoping you'l start drooling over yourself. first i tried going upstairs to see if that would help, but only made it easier to sleep. then i just stopped attending completely.

so if i read two readings from each of the 5 main topics will that be enough????

Strive for the five!

Wow! look on the marking scale on web ct! To get between a 5 and a 7.5 this is what you have to do....

"Work with very serious deficiencies, failing
to address the literature with the seriousness
required and with an inadequate grasp of the
subject matter and anthropological analysis."

This is what I'm gona be aiming for I think!

oh my god, I soooooo know the feeling . .its now 3 oclock, and I still haven't started revising - nor did i go to many lectures, so its not so much revising as teaching it to myself!!
as far as i can see, we only need to know three topics, right? i sort of know paloma gay's and peter gow's topics . . . .but i don't know anything else!!! which is the easiest of the others?? I HATE this subject!!!!
also, what percentage is a pass? we already have 40% of out grade sorted, which is a comfort!!

I'm so glad Im not the only one stressing about this! The only lectures I know anything about were the Reproduction ones by Paloma Gay....I went to one of Stan Franklands. I went to more than one of Stephanie Bunn's politics lectures, but for all the attention I paid I'd've been better off staying at home and catching up on my sleep there.

So I'm trying to teach myself the entire course in a day...Can't really see it.

Strive for the Five seems like a good philosophy to me!

hmmm i went to most of the lectures and still don't get what's going on all the time! the revision session notes i made were good though, so try grab some of those if you can. Soc.Anth. didn't make a whole load of sense on the whole. if you just get what three of the topics were you'll do okay i think, as you can choose out of two questions. It'll all be fine, and good luck for 2mora!

a tip for all 1st year anthropologists - just learn your 2 essays. that's what i did for both sets of exams last year and got a 16 and a 17. seriously, that's all i did and there was always an exam question similar enough to each essay to reproduce your essay.
