animated doctor who with richard e grant. I don't know about it yet, having only watched one episode- but at least it's distraction!

I watched that when I was bored - it must have been over 6 months ago. Certainly more Doctor Who than the new show but still prone to being a bit weak.

It's not really Doctor Who though and Eccleston is pretty shit as the Doctor, although I think that's down to the dire state of the writing more than anything.

I disagree about Eccleston. I think he's doing a really good job as the doctor. He's got the traits that make the doctor down to a tee while putting his own two-pennys worth into it aswell. Which is what makes a doctor who. Ok, he's no Peter Davison, but...who is?

As for the writing, well, some of it has been poor, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It has to change with the times and I like how they are doing it. Some of it, I agree, has been pretty bad, but on the whole I think it's doing dr who proud.... :)

A good parody on the Monty Python "coalminer returns home to artsy northern parents" sketch on dead ringers last night in a doctor who / trekky way.

I'm watching the "classic" one "Real Time" pretty cool so far. Definitely old skool. Good so far.

Personally, I've been quite impressed by the other Animated Dr Who story on the BBC, the one with Paul McGann(?). It's essentially Dr Who as I imagined it(I was never a huge fan, and only had seen bits in pieces, including the Movie).

Again, I think Eccleston has been doing a good job. It *is* a family/kids TV series after all, and really it has been pretty good. I can totally empathise with whoever it was that said they were 'emotionally touched' by the Dalek Episode, I loved it.

Still, as I see it, with this new series, they should be ironing out some of the 'kiddiness' of it, not to make it more serious, just less juvenile, but not past the point that kids won't like it. Perhaps something 'serious' that kids enjoy...I don't know where I'm going with it to be honest...

As for a more focused point, whats the opinions on this new guy slated for the Christmas Episode(s) and the next series?

he doesn't look all that imposing. I've never seen doctor who before casually watching the new one, but regardless of the quality of the show, I like the actor's/character's sort of manic and boundless energy. Just interesting to watch.

David Tennant?

I'm very much liking the idea... but I guess we'll have to wait and see

Oh for fucks sake. I've just read that the farting aliens are going to return later in this series, and that a renegade Slitereen is going to 'take over Cardiff'. Who writes this rubbish?.

Ah fantastic, if the writer leaves, or gets his act together, then the next series might be half decent.
