Webmail- DELETED- yes, all of it

Postby Glasgow on Mon Oct 17, 2005 10:34 am

I have just logged in to my webmail account and apparently there are no messages in my inbox WTF?!! Has this ever happened to anyone else or does anyone know what has happened here before I rage down to IT Services? There was so much stuff in my inbox that I need and now its all gone! I know IT sevices want you to keep the size down of the inbox but seriously my account was only a tiny bit over the limit and this is pretty serious action to take against me. What the hell do I do now?!

Don't sweat about it, the same has happened to me. The guy at the IT desk said they were having some problems with their servers, all should be fixed fairly soon!

what you do now is wait for it to come back - my inbox vanished several times in my honours years, often with information that i needed there and then.

it's nothing personal and it'll be back though...

I seem to have completely the opposite problem - I can't actually delete any of my emails! Damned careers centre seems determined to get me.

I'm getting really fed up with the slow speed of email delivery - for the last couple of weeks it seems to have been taking several hours to get emails from St Andrews addresses. Grrrr.

After my tutor last year(a certain comp sci lecturer) mentioned that the Comp Sci School and the IT department were essentially 'at war', each looking to undermine the other as much as possible. Some of the tales about some things that occurred between them are quite impressive!

Sounds interesting, care to divulge further?

why don't they just turn IT over to the comp sci students? It'd probably save them money, they could give the students credit as if it were a class or something, and then they wouldn't have to pay people.

Only because the CS network is da bomb, and ResNet is horribly restricted to the point of being dysfunctional.
