The Bop was shit; no one was there. The dj's can't mix and don't mix they just play a cd. The last 4 or 5 songs sounded the same, I kept thinking, 'I thought this was the last song they played'. Obviously i'm not up on the dancy beatz but playing a range of music would have been better than solid club tracks one after the other.

Basically, all the nerds hated the bop this week because they didn't get their weekly dose of shite music, chesney hawkes etc. All the people who have taste and want to dance to good music loved the bop.

Isn't interesting that we're having this thread? If it was the same borning bop like it is every week then this thread wouldn't exist - lots of people have been saying how they really enjoyed it, that doesn't happen often.

The reason not many people were there was because a lot of people were saving themselves for tonight. Normally it's very busy, and I don't know why you're saying no-one was there, it wasn't that bad. I remember in first year you were lucky if five people and a dog turned up.

But it's not a club...it's the fucking bop!

So just because it's the BOP, that means DJs shouldn't introduce some different styles from week to week. Variation is the spice of life

Your right, variation is good. But as Ellkie said, there was no variation between songs last night.

I'm not adverse to dance music, but the bop is not a dance club. It could easily play a decent variation, but it seems to swing from one extreme to the other.

"I was there. Did you see my hair."

Well done on managing to change the subject from the bop to yourself. And I did.

I supremely enjoyed the bop last night. I can appreciate cheese but it's nice to have variety in one's musical jiggery.

Hey guys, my name is James Smith I was the DJ last night along with 2 of my friends who guest DJ'd and Spike who played a couple of tracks.

We wherent orginally planning on playing Dance/House for the whole night, but the crowd seemed to enjoy it so we kept on going. Apologies for anyone who was expecting cheese and didnt get it, dont worry normal Bop service will be resumed on tuesday.

I invited Rob Bain and James Taylor along to DJ with me as they're both graduating this summer and had never done a bop. If you like they're style they can be found every Sat in the Lizard.

Last night was just a one off, i doubt they'd let us do it again!

Those of you who enjoyed the night, thank you for your praise. You are why i do what i do. He'res hoping i can drop in a few dance songs next time i'm on the bop.

If you didnt like the night then thats cool too, keep the opinions coming!

I did enjoy the bop but certainly wouldn't want it to be like that all the time as dance music gets dull after a while. Hiphop/RnB type stuff was fun for the start of the night. I think cheese is better a bit later when your legs are tired and you want to have a laugh with friends, are too drunk to care or are pulling.
Rock can work at the end as everybody goes a bit crazy, jump about, do air guitar and so on. Depends on the atmosphere.
People can go to Dundee if they want proper clubs.
Thanks to all the people that DJ and do the lights, is appreciated!

Thank you I had to miss the demo 'cause I was doing my hair. It was worth it though, it does look good. have facebooked you, we have several mutual friends including the senior student of Uni hall who you apparently went to school with, I have a feeling we have met at some point.

Anyway must get to bed.
