Thoughts on the end of the series. What are we going to do now on Saturday nights? No more Doctor.

And I'm sorry but does anyone else feel the BBC should apologise over false advertising? Rose did not die, she just went to a parallel universe. Thats not proper dying in the sense that she dies. Thats just popping to a parallel universe.

Still ... roll on Christmas special!

But she died according to the registry office in her own universe. The Doctor told her that offically she was dead.
And my take on it is that shes now dead inside over the loss of the Doctor.

There should have been a bit at the end like at the end of Fallen (which starts with Denzel Washington saying "Let me tell you about the time I almost died"), where Rose says that she's dead inside, or something similar.

As for false advertising, I'd be more concerned about over advertising, like the Radio Times putting Daleks vs Cybermen on the front cover (although... 3 Cybermen holding an adidas world cup ball... that's funny), thus making the 2nd episode a bit of a giveaway from those who pathologically avoid spoilers.

I thought that was what she meant to be honest. Only when the Doctor mentioned that she had been registeres as dead did it become apparent what she meant.

As for the rest of it, how snazzy was the Genesis Ark / Dalek prison ship effect throwing Daleks out over London?

Ah, Doctor Who, what a great series. I was pretty impressed with the way they ended the series in the end, particularly the little teaser for the Christmas episode at the very end. I also found the ending rather sad, they seemed to be able to draw it out in a rather emotional way. Still, the Doctor moves on, and the great thing about Doctor Who is that the show still lives on even when the actors change. Let's see how Freema Agyeman does next year.

Mmmm, lovely David. I'd be his companion any day!

As for the Genesis ark - that was ultimately ace. I liked the battle of daleks going 'Exterminate' and the Cybermen going 'delete'. We just needed the SWAT squad from 'The Blues Brothers' going 'hup hup hup' and we'd have a true battle of words!

Good episode, but the last 15 minutes? Puh-leez. Companions and the Doctor in love? Bah. Glad Rose is gone. Maybe we can have less of the "Rose is special" and more of the "Would you like a jelly baby?"

Having said that, Billie Piper was great in the role - far better than I first thought she'd be.

One thing about the last episode - I thought it'd be a great opportunity for them to recreate the Cybermen coming down from St Pauls -

Did anyone else think the bride bit at the end completely ruined the sombre ending, that part is being deleted from my tivo for future viewings. I'm gonna miss rose, but at least there's a chance we'll see her again, maybe in the Torchwood spinoff or something.

Yeah, i didn't like the bride either. It should have just shown him heading off somewhere in the tardis at the end, looking sad :-P

And no chance of seeing Rose in the Torchwood spin-off because if she was then Torchwood would be set in a different universe with zeppelins and without the doctor, or with a different doctor anyway, which would be kind of weird.

But i loved that ending for Rose. It was perfect. She technically gets an opportunity to live happily ever after with mickey and her family but it's tainted by the loss of the doctor. So sad :-( But a good way to end her story at the same time :-)

I thought it was good the way Rose turned round and had her parents and boyfriend- yet when the doctor turned, he had no-one. I was really frustrated he didn't get to say "I love you" but i suppose that would have been a step too far, and that theyh couldn't even touch each other at the end! I don't know if I feel more sorry for Rose or the Doctor- I did get the meaning that really, she had died inside by losing the doctor.
I actually quite liked the bit with the bride- lightened the mood and suggested the doctor was going to be fine!

(And although I thought chris eccleston was a slightly better doctor, I do fancy the pants off david tennant!!)

I thought the Tardis wasn't supposed to be easy to get into. And now a bride just wanders in without noticing. *is puzzled*. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Or maybe we'll find out when it's back on.

It kinda figured from the way the trailers showed Rose herself saying that she'd died that it probably wasn't going to be a literal, my heart ain't beating, type of death.

Well, considering that the doctor was hovering around a supernova at the time, i doubt that the bride just wandered in. It look like she just appeared on the ship.

And i hope next year they do less Earth/London episodes now that they've got rid of Rose and her family We could do with seeing some new planets.

Perfect ending. RTD said in response to it being a cop out(or something) by Rose not *really* dying that "Killing off main characters is not what Doctor Who is about", and it's certainly not about the Doctor and his love life! It's about surprise and adventure with morals and consequences! Woo!

Thus, IMO, the ending was perfect. To address a few points:

- Clearly something is odd about the Bride *other* than her just wandering into the TARDIS. It'd be a very lame(or incredibly brilliant) Christmas Special if she *just* wandered on in...
- Cybermen from a different Universe, not really 'proper' Cybermen as they're not from Mondas(there was poor Frank early in the series hoping for a Mondas tie-in with 'The Impossible Planet'...the Impossible tenth planet of our solar system perhaps? but it wasn't to be)
- Rose was a decent sidekick, and her 'ending' was pretty decent too. Unfortunately, Jackie and Pete getting together made me feel more than a bit cringey and Yvonne made me want to punch a Cyber(wo)man as she was quite annoying.
- Interestingly, all those made into Cybermen in 'our' Torchwood still remain on Earth, they'd never crossed the void, so they didn't get sucked in.
- Why didn't the TARDIS get sucked into the Void when the Prison-Ship-TARDIS-come-Genesis-ark did?
- Good to see Daleks continuing to be cool, and with a fair bit of character and intrigue without Davros, something that these new series have got spot on.
- 'Blackie'(as I don't remember his name, but the Supreme Dalek anyway) shot off with a fizz-pop and an "Emergency Temporal Jump Activated" sort of thing, thus meaning both more Dalek adventures. Davros is still out there though...
- What about the Time Lords and Daleks in 'Pete's World', or the alternate universe.

Speaking of Lazy Writers and the 'Alternate Universe', I don't think it's a fair thing to criticise about Doctor Who given that the vast majority of 'if it wasn't for X, the whole thing'd have ended there' scenarios are handled quite literally by Deus Ex Machina. Sonic Screwdriver anyone? The Alternate Universe is also quite an interesting option to explore for anyone, lazy or not.

And I'm spent.

Dalek vs Cybermen action was quite awesome though.

"We could exterminate the Cybermen with just one Dalek"
