Glad to hear the girl involved is not dead/dying. Horray for alcohol. Although if she was not drunk I am wondering if she would have been knocked down in the first place. But from the sounds of it it must have been a pretty serious knock - in that case she may just have been the victim of an over speed taxi. Not that taxi's ever speed of course.

A couple of weeks ago I did see a little collision on Market Street between a car backing out of a parking space and another flying round the corner. Wonder if it was at the same place.

I heard someone got hit by a taxi (from a taxi driver who was pretty shook up by it), I would also imagine if I saw an on duty police officer who didn't help, (bearing in mind I don't think I could really offer anything useful) I would use some pretty derogitory terms. anyone know if she is ok or not?

I dont like the word filth used, but lets for a minute consider this. has the world gone so politically correct that all slang used for individuals or groups are immoral. im going to play devils advocate here, and say that calling me white is a derogatory term, as im only this colour because of the awful dull, dreary winter, lack of holiday, and general uni related illness. therefore i think the whole world should revert to reservoir dog colours. but with more dulux. so from now on, ill be mr. white(with a hint of mocha)
anyways, just to stir it up, i used to call the police pigs, cos where i used to live then police vans were regularly sprayed with the words tinned pork. i still find it funny, though i am a little childish.

Personally, I have never been that bothered what people call the police. I have heard them being refered with a variety of different names, but to me they are still all coppers. Most of them are decent people, and like any other job you get your arseholes as well. So what?? What has always annoyed me is the fact that they spend an innordinate amount of time pulling people over for either not having tax or not having an MOT. This annoys me, because as far as I am concerned they should be spending their time catching murderers etc, not doing the job of VOSA/DVLA.

There's lots of terms that have been used in the past to discribe the Police. My favourite is "The Rozz" or "Rozzers", which was used alot in the film "Quadrophenia" which is basically about pill-heads in the 1960's. Most of these terms are used loosley and not intended to be offensive. It is a long standing tradition to call the Police names and dates back to the Victorian era, and most Police officers will recognize names as a joke and won't be offended. I am in fact good friends with several Police officers and my uncle is in the MOD Police, and they are all so unpolitically correct and have a good sense of humour.
