strictest university/college/school

Postby kats on Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:40 pm

I've been enjoying myself reading homepages of different universities, and I was wondering what was the most severe/strictest uni or school you know of?

So far, my vote is Bob Jones university - dates have to be supervised, you are not allowed to watch movies over a G rating and women are not allowed trousers...

what can you find?

Baylor University - apparently they're arranging/have arranged to have an exchange program with St Andrews - can anyone confirm this rumour?

Maybe not as strict, but I@m looking at their rules now - they have, for example, a policy on AIDS - I wonder does St Andrews? (not that I know of..)
e.g.:
With a firm commitment to biblical teachings, actions and policies will be based upon current and reliable information.
The educational effort will be marked by both a clear affirmation of Christian teachings on sexual morality and the dangers of drug abuse, plus accurate medical and sociological data. The clear message will be that sexual abstinence outside of marriage, sexual fidelity within marriage, and the avoidance of intravenous drug abuse are the only morally correct and medically safe ways to prevent the spread of AIDS.

http://www.baylor.edu/student_policies/ ... p?id=32250

They also have a statement where they want to promote sobriety - imagine what they would think of Raisin Weekend!

ah, yes, if you look far enough you find this:

http://www.baylor.edu/content/services/ ... p?id=39247

"Baylor will be guided by the understanding that human sexuality is a gift fromthe creator God and that the purposes of this gift includes .,.. blah blah blah, .... acheived through heterosexual relationships within marriage. Misuses of God's gift will be undertstood to include, blah blah.... fornication and homosexual acts."

"Construcvive forgiveness will guide all efforts".

I'm guessing they won't have an LGBT society then.

yeah i saw that as well...

Bob Jones has a similar policy - what i love is that you are not allowed to watch movies higher than a G rating or go out with a memeber of the opposite sex without supervision, but you are allowed to bring a gun as long as it has a safety lock.. whats wrong with this picture???

Sorry - I didn't mean to offend anyone! Just being silly...

I wonder though, can anyone find an example of absurdly strict universitys such as these anywhere else in the Western World?

Seems to be typically American. You can't drink til you're 21, but you can marry, raise kids and shoot the fuck out of anyone who trespasses on your motherfuckin property when you're 16. Love it.

you can't get married when you're 16. Not usually. People under 18 are considered minors.

And no, you can't just shoot people either.

That sounds like a challenge.
