Time for McClaren and Beckham to fuck off!

Postby Griggsy on Wed Nov 21, 2007 10:25 pm

McClaren should have never been appointed.

Beckham may have produced the cross for the equalizer, but he did NOTHING else. You can't continue to play an ageing has been just because once every now and again he might produce a decent ball.

And why does no-one ever pick up on how badly Gerrard plays?

Gerrard played badly? I don't think you can really pick one player and say they played badly, the whole team was shite.

The biggest joke of all is that Lampard got man of the match, worst player on the pitch.

Probably not the first place I'd think to post a message regarding the state of the English football team but after tonight's performance I wholeheartedly agree.

I agree the whole team played badly, but Gerrard was worse than Lampard. Defence was awful too!

Uk friendly tournament

Postby Super Jock on Wed Nov 21, 2007 11:54 pm

Hey guys, you have my sympathies. England didn't look really bad, they just looked like they didn't care all that much, they didn't seem in a hurry till the second half despite being two nil down. Steve McClaren must take responsibility and go, you don't need to be a bad manager to not make it as a national manager. But he didn't make it months ago. But a change of manager mid campaign could have been worse.

Here's what I think will make us all feel better. If they (our representative foot-balling bodies) organised a small uk friendly tournament. Like the Kirin cup. What do people think about that?

I would love to see the Home Nations cup (I think that's what it was called previously?) brought back....I think that would solve the potential loss of revenues issue we have and it'll give the home nations something to get excited about.

Home nations would be good.

Especially as on current form Scotland would win (although with a strong challenge from the Northern Irish).

Except for people on here who would brand you 'narrow minded' and 'racist' if you didn't want England to win it.

England got exactly what they deserved. Shows how badly they missed and underrated Sven too.

Lampard was anonymous for the majority of the game. So he stepped up and took the penalty, big deal. That doesn't make up for the fact he did absolutely nothing in the first half, and unsurprisingly did the sum of bugger all in the second. Did you fail to notice the last ditch tackle Gerrard managed to make which surely saved England from going 3-1 down early in the second half. The reason Gerrard had to make this tackle? That would be Frank Lampard pissing about with the ball in midfield, giving it away to a Croatian. Maybe you saw the countless other tackles he made during the game. Possibly even the times where he even attempted forward runs that nearly led to chances. So what exactly did Lampard do for the 90 minutes except waddle about making the occasionally awful pass or give away the ball. The mans a joke and I for one hope he never pulls on an England shirt ever again, hes a disgrace. To take Barry off, who had been a whole lot better than Lampard in the first half was a stunning decision in itself.

Again, i'm not saying that Gerrard played well, nobody did, but to say he played worse than Lampard is simply not true. Gerrard did more on the night than Lampard in an atogether awful team effort.

England need somebody in charge whos not afraid to drop big name players like Lampard who are simply not performing at international level, until that happens England will remain distinctly mediocre.

Just going to have to agree to disagree on that on I think. I thought Gerrard's passing was worse than Lampard's and forward runs that led to chances? I didn't see those, sure you weren't getting confused with the Croatia team that was actually moving the ball forward lol?

Lampard has been dropped...England played no better. I would just like to see Gerrard dropped to see how they played then. I also don't think, as Captain last night, Gerrard really rallied and motivated his players.

I for one would love to see England play Scotland more. Might actually give a boot up the arse of the England players that clearly don't give a fudge about playing for their Country. It embarrasing compared to the passion you see some of the Scotland players putting in.

Ok then - I'd love a home nations tournament. I would really bring all us jolly brits together in a spirit of britishness for British football. We could all hold hands, sing Rule Britannia and God save the Queen, and then, once glorious England win, the whole of Hampden can unite in a rendition of 'Land of Hope and glory'.

Better?

*sigh*

For the record, I'd love to see Scotland play England, why? Because we'd win comfortably.

ahh the good old days, not so sure that could be repeated like, but howay man, how could you expect Scotland to beat England "comfortably" surely? Id admit myself atm you'd probably have a good chance of sneaking victory on current form, but ya's certainly havent got the team to thrash us imo. Im just glad that smoggie waste of space has finally got the sack....
