I can safely say that I saw absolutely nobody wearing one yesterday - that's not to say the answer is 'no', but maybe a good indication towards that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you should (traditionally) have it sown onto your gown anyway and since there's nowhere that states you shouldn't take it off for graduation, you should probably leave it on. That said, I tucked mine into my gown pocket for the ceremony.

...then again, that is only my opinion.

You sow it on to your red gown (at least for arts and science) and wear a black gown for graduation.

Or have I missed something?

I presume the questioner is ushering or similar. There's absolutely no question of having a raisin string attached to a graduate gown.

If you are the one that is graduating, yes! :)

I was an Usher at the graduation ceremonies the year I graduated and I had my raisin string on my red gown. (I decided to share the graduation gown with a friend so had to wear my red gown when I ushered her ceremony). It was also a nice conversation starter with the parents. If you're Ushering keep it on....if you're graduating then don't put it on your graduation gown.
