Police on the Kinnessburn?

Postby Abserdman on Thu Jul 31, 2008 8:50 am

Does anyone know why the police were on the Kinnessburn road/Auld Burn road at about 5pm yesterday? The road was blocked off to non-residents with police vans.

No idea why - but I saw them around 3PM, so they must have been there a while.

Also - when you say the road was blocked off, do you mean just for cars? I walked past them without being asked if I lived there.

I came down the travelator at around 5.30 and they were taking statements from people and had a camera and tripod out with numbered markers laid out on the pavement. There were plain clothed officers so I assume it was relatively serious. They had the street closed off with police tape as well as the cars.

Someone was knocked down/run over. That's all I've been told. They had people out with what looked like surveying equipment when I passed presumably looking at tyre tracks and the like. Maybe the Citizen will reveal more in due time.

They weren't letting cars on Kinnessburn Road past Pipeland Road. On foot you could get as far as Auld Burn Road before they asked you not to go any further. This was at about 6. Not sure what the deal was if you were coming from the Greenside Court direction though.

I spoke to a chef at my work who apparently knew the person involved. He was hit by a car but its being treated as attempted murder apparently - some vengeance attack on this guy by his ex-girlfriend's new fella or something. It's all a little bit 'Pick Me Up'. Still, hope the guy's OK though.

I was on my bike, I don't know about pedestrians.
