Hey there, I'm a former resident of regs who missed the Mr St Andrews comp. Anyone want to fill me in on who won and who Mr Regs was please?! Just interested.........


Well I entered Mr Regs for a laugh, (won it) was never going to consider Mr St Andrews, but was convinced to do it at the last minute.

Glad I did it though..

It was a great laugh and believe me it takes balls to stand up and do that. Ok we were all pretty drunk but that was needed. After a while the contestants all lost their nerves and hopefully started to enjoy it.

So I dont care whether any of you lot were disappointed with the "talent" - so long as you enjoyed it, had a laugh, and a really good night.

Al, i just feel that girls in general would find it harder to shrug off not winning than men and they would analyse the situation more. I'm not trying to make out that girls are weaker or anything like that, i just think that they would take it more personally then a guy.

I agree that women are far less likely to get a kick out of being leered/yelled at than men. After all, women have to put up with it every time they pass a bunch of workmen pretending to dig up the street.

While the whole thing is a bit overly-PC, remember that men haven't historically had difficulty persuading the world that they're more than just a pretty face or a pair of tits (obvious reasons for the latter, but still). Reclaiming your sexiness or whatever is fine, but there's still a fair bit of sensitivity among women to being objectified, and I think it isn't unjustified, either.

Yes women have been objectified in the past and in some quarters still are. However, I don't see how doing the same to men is going to help address the problem. As I said above, it does open the Union up to (justified) accusations of double standards. If it is unsuitable to have a contest that objectifies women then it must be equally unacceptable for a contest that exposes men to ridicule. I know the men choose to take part but so would the women in any female equivalent. No one is talking about compulsion.

Mr Bar Staff is totally fanciable and to u girls he might be in the fashion show too! His positions were limited but I'm sure he can have a good teaching. But I want the Doc to sing to me all night!! The word is that he was going to get to the next round but that all the male judges voted him out (a friend of mine was a female judge). How biased is that!! He didn't seem bothered though. So Mr. Regs and the Doc are friends? That explains for why the Doc forked out £100 to buy him! That's crazy. He was right there in front of us when he jumped off the stage, and he's also got one decent sized package, and it definitely didn't look like a rolled up towel!!! (VIP seating is best!!) What's the next best event? Anyone going to the gunge tomorrow tonight?

Regarding Miis. St Andrews i think the yah idea is good and will be to the same par, and would not put looks at the front of things!

Replacement Mr Atholl was an attractive fellow or so iv been told. His eyes were quite nice if you like that sort of thing. I couldnt give a flyin monkey about the rest but maybe im biased. Whippet told me about this site and that it would be a laugh to check it out. First off it's a very cool site! Great job. Seems like alot more people visit it than butemedics.com (not an advert!! ) I cannot believe the 'discussion' going on here...

To answer the question of 'why did you buy Whippet for £100.00', I guess the fact that he was fun and genuine, and that he will come to some use at the Bute Ball and the Bute Revue (do come along as he'll be doing his office dance again!) is well worth the money. I don't deny he's also a medic and in my opinion an 'investment' as now, we can auction him off again for charity! Whippet is a money making machine!! ;D

To those of you who are taking this waay to seriously please refer to point 1 below:

1. Mr. St. Andrews is for charity
2. Alot of contestants did it for point 1 above.

As a contestant myself I don't deny that there were some people in the competition who do fit into the 'egotistical mindless twerp' category and I'm not going to say names, but to be honest alot of them were that way before they even entered the competition. What you see on stage for most of the contestants is really an alter ego, and the free drinks back stage defintiely contributed to that! Believe me we all had quite a bit. Only a few people took it rather seriously, and most of us were there for point 1 above or for a laugh.

I personally know 'Mr. St. Andrews' and may I ask people not to talk crap if they don't know someone. I have heard all sorts of chat around town including that the whole contest was rigged and they eliminated the contest as the judges all were from the union- but why worry about it, the fact is that it's not supposed to be serious. True, that the judge panel of 5 had their final say and when you know how the system worked it can get to you (and yes to answer the other question it was true that even though the girls voted me in, the 2 guys voted me out, but I knew that was going to happen - one of the judges, the ex Mr St A, who I personally have no opinion of, didn't like me very much...I think a female judge put it just right, that he was just jealous!!! hahaha) but some of us were asked to do it last minute (such as in my case) and I'm sure it was the same with some others, probably the current Mr St A too. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the crew and I had such a great night, and I think most of us did. The fact alone that we raised over £2000.00 for a good cause is something we should be proud of!

I hope this point of view along with Whippet's gives a bit more insight. Rag week is over and we raised alot of money, so why don't we just leave it as a happy memory!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I went to the DRH ball, which was fun. Bute ball next weekend!
