Who on The Sinner do you respect?

Postby Light the Rag on Tue Mar 29, 2005 12:09 am

Given that you don't know most of the people on these boards, and you only have their posts to go by, who has earned your respect?

I always had a deep respect for Wong. His posts are always (or mostly) well thought-out and diplomatic.

Then I found out I knew him in real life...

Out of the people I haven't met (I think!), I have respect for KateBush, Pender Native, and harmless loony.
Occasionally Manic23, and occasionally Haunted.

Obviously, I have respect for my friends - the people I know from outside the sinner that post on it (mostly Maddog20/20, rae, lauremw, Sunflower, Greebo... think that's it...).

I do actually know a frighteningly large number of people on the Sinner but let's see - if it's people that I *don't* know...

I'll have to think about it.

I respect any poster that can present an opinion but doesn't belittle those who disagree with it.

In terms of respect, exnihilo really gets on my tits a lot, but (begrudgingly) I acknowledge that he is an intelligent lad.

I have a lot of time for Katebush also, I really do think a lot of people who shoot from the hip and don't care what others think of them

Humphrey is probably the poster who makes me laugh the most on the sinner, so he's worth a mention as well

There are others I'm sure but they just aren't springing to mind

Erm, thanks manic23, I think. When I first looked at this page I thought several people had cited me and my spirits were lifted, then I saw what had actually happened and I was dashed to the ground. I hadn't realised I was so irritating, especially to you, as I have no recollection of going out of my way to be.

For my part, I respect anyone who argues intelligently without resorting to personal attacks. Anyone who can acknowledge they're wrong is good too, instead of simply packing in the discussion.

Don't take it personally, I'm just irritable by nature

And I did say I thought you were smart, so find solace in that

Cain, David Bean, and KateBush. I also think Bramble gives good advice. Oh and obviously I would say I respect Romantic too as I know him rather well in person!

Manic23 - you are very different in real life to the way I expected you to be from reading your sinner posts!

Generally, i respect what Wong, Evil Twin, Novium and Lonely Pilgrim write. As infuriating as Exnihilio can be, he also tends to make a lot of sense (which is sometimes even more infuriating)

I respect different people's opinions on different things.
I hold an element of surprise

Yeah I'm really not a complete bastard, as some may well believe.

P.S. who are you? How do you know me from outside the sinner?

EDIT: you wouldn't happen to be my tutor for MO2001 would you?!

Hmm, I respect the wise words of Oddly Familiar, Zombie Sheep, Setsuna, Bramble and nighteyes. Hmm, sure there are others, but those are the only ones I can think of right now.

Joker, for her wit, individuality, flair and journalistic genius.

Midget, for speaking his mind, when its not appropriate and amusing me with his absurdity.

Oh and David Bean as he seems to say things that are actually good ideas.

Oh dear, If I'd have known my tutor was on the sinner I'd probably have been a lot more reserved from the start...
