The Post Office was Closed....

Does anyone have an idea why the Post Office on south street was closed today - Monday 07/04/08. Surely they cant have closed permanently already.

To be fair, learning the local holidays isn't much use. Banks/Supermarkets/Post Offices/Employers in general all take different holidays and hardly any of them co-incide with the local ones.

Also, how would you propose one learns what day is a local holiday without someone else telling them (through letter/webpage/or note outside the post-office)? These aren't dates you can work out by observing the stars.
