Definetly needs an injection of humour into the pages. People writing take themselves far too seriously, almost as if they are the centre of the world. The column that dictates 'whats in and whats out' for a town like st. andrews is quite hilariously awful.

What the fuck is the difference?

In the UK, it means something different. It refers to educational institutions which are pre-university level.

To call St Andrews a school is to be incorrect.

Though it seems to believe that it is made up of schools:

Really, who cares? School, College, University....whatever. No one's going to confuse it with a secondary institution or a polytechnic if that's what you're worried about.

This is not a 'school'. It is a university.

What the fuck is the difference? I'm sorry if my americanisms confuse some people. If you're really trying to make a statement in the comment OK but I'm sorry I can't stand neat picky people on message boards e.g. that whol thread on spelling errors.

I think the phrase, "When in Rome..." comes to mind. If you are so arrogant as to not accept and go by the way things are done here such as using th term school for a univeristy, which is not only confussing but stupid, then don't waste our time by comming here.

And to answer your question, a school is what you go to BEFORE university or college which might I point out is where you go to receive FURTHER education and not HUGHER EDUCATION which is obviously something you lack.

What's the difference between higher education and HUGHER education?

This thread quite possibly marks an all time low on the Sinner. Everyone needs to chillax and laugh at the sheer idiocy.

I don't know, but I rather want one now.

The Saint writers need to be less serious and more humourous what about the Sinners?

Actually if you'd bothered to read the editorial this week you would see it was totally taking the piss and a very funny little satire on the recent elections.

I myself also try to inject a bit of humour in the paper.

I thought the editorial was hilarious. The Saint and The Sinner are both useful in totally different ways. Keep up the good work.

school is perfectly ok in the UK when talking about university.

I could say that i do maths at uni... or I could say I read pure maths in the school of mathematics at the University of St Andrews. Depends on the level of detail and which bit you refer to.

It tends to be more traditional universities that people refer to as school, but its definately not just an american thing. It's also a british thing... just a rarely used british thing :P

i'm sorry i posted at all on this message board as a predominant number of people on it are either ADD or have something shoved way to far up their asses to stick to a topic and not go off the subject on something like one word an arrogant, assholish, american-born, southern by the grace of god kid says in his post as he really doesn't give a fuck

i could continue this hopeless discussion on that word i said which i will not omit from my vocabulary and just say LONG LIVE THE SAINT
