hamilton's new warden??

Rumour control starts here!

I hereby throw out a big warm welcome to all new Hamiltonians. 'Tis a lovely home, and was mine for the past two years. I honestly don't know where this rumour starts that we are all workaholics. I for one enjoy my studies with a passion, but always end up doing as little work as possible.
On the other hand, stereotypes always exist for a reason - but I think in this case the reasons are good ones. Let me elaborate with a little section I like to call "Aureliano's rumour control".
i) Hamilton is a really dull hall. Maybe we don't have a 'fun party hall' status because we don't trash out hall as much and keep it in fairly good condition.
ii) Hamiltonians are in-bred & anti-social A lot of people don't know many people from Hamilton and assume that we just keep to ourselves. Far from it! The reason for this lack of contact is usually because we're such a small hall community in terms of numbers (only about 120+ of us including Eden Court). It's a very warm, tight-knit community and you usually know the entire hall by name. And while this can sometimes be the recipe for disaster (hard to keep secrets, hard to escape people you don't get along with), it's no worse than in any other walk of student life. It's honestly a great balance, and most of us tend to be quite respectful anyway (see below).
iii) Hamiltonians are a boring bunch, work too much, and don't know how to have a good time. We like to have fun, but at least in my first year, and maybe slightly less so last year, we tended to be quite a mellow bunch. And that was the beauty of it; my first year was full of wild people who were still down-to-earth. Drunken nights out usually ended in impromptu stair parties, just lounging out and chatting into the wee hours...
If you have any other questions, just fire away. Unfortunately I won't be living in Hall in my 3rd year, but you can be sure that I'll be back to visit on an almost daily basis in September. Pier jumping, Extreme dining, Viking dinners and much, much more... it's all coming back baby!

hey, I'm in Hamilton too - room 31A. Was just wondering if anyone could tell me where its situated? Is it a good room?

Room 31A is on the second floor, on the right hand side of the building as opposed to the left. It means that you will have a beautiful view of the sea! My room is in fact not far from yours..only two doors down, no. 27. You are also in a shared room (As indicated by person A or person B). Room 31 is a nice big room with a high celing. Welcome to hamilton, see you in September! :0)

He he he, I'm a first year in Hamilton this year, I'm so excited about this thread, its told me so much! I was really worried about moving out, etc but now I'm much more at ease about it all, I think by the sounds of things I've been quite lucky to ge into Hamilton!!My friend is also in Hamilton, I think quite near me, she's in 37 and I'm in 32, are they near?! Well anyways, I have nothing else to say really apart from he he, Hamilton, here I come!

6 is possibly the best room in Hamilton Hall so you are a very very lucky person! My best friends were in that room in my first year and it will no doubt remain in my memory for many years. It is a truly beautiful room, with huge windows, oak panelling and the most wonderful view of the sea. Make sure you get there early so you get the best desk!
I'm playing all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order.

Yup. I used to live in HA7, but my friends were in 6 and I also spent most of my time in there. It has an amazing view of the sea. Bit chilly though. Brrr.

32 and 37 are on the 2nd floor, and are very close together. 32 is a stunning room - it's on the corner of the building (directly under the biggest white bell) and so has windows all the way round, meaning panoramic views of the golfcourse and the sea. The room is huge, and has oak panelling all round it. 37 is also a fantastic room - it looks straight out over the golfcourse. If you want to locate your rooms on a picture of Hamilton, 32 is indicated by the set of windows on the corner of the building 3 floors up from the ground, and 37 is 5 sets of windows along from that (moving away from the R & A). For the person moving into room 6, your room is on the side of the building that looks out to sea (rather than out over the golfcourse - although you can see the first tee from the window). It's on the first floor, and is the middle room that you can see (the one with a bay window). See you in September!
