One time, someone told me to close my eyes and dropped a 5p in my hand. Being the skittish person I am, threw away 'cause I thought it was a spider. That's 5p I'll never see again...

Wasps - I do the same arm flapping, hyperventilating trick as above.

Groups of neds.

Small spaces with water in them.

I'm okay with small spaces if there's no water. And having just read this thread, a litle piece of paper fluttered off my desk and I nearly wet myself in case it was a spider/bug.

I'm also terrified of this chicken we have at home called Shane. But that's more because he attacks you when you walk near him than a fear of chickens called Shane.

Talk about irrational fears - I am TERRIFIED of vomit. Vomitting or vomit itself. I was a first aider all through uni and my co-workers knew to give me all the broken bones, bloody injuries, but not the vomit ones. I am scared of flying not because I am scared of the plane crashing or of heights, but that someone will vomit and I cannot get out. I actually avoid all travel when possible (not so easy with my job!). I love kids, but will probably never have them as the morning sickness alone would send me in a panic, not to mention kids always seem to get stomach flus. I won't go to countries where I think the food or water is dodgy, I won't eat certain meats... oh the list goes on..

STUPID IRRATIONAL FEAR!!!!!

Being buried alive would probably not be very cool.

There's also this novel about a contagious blindness (Blindness by Jose Saramago). It gives me the jibbly-jibblies every time I read it.

Also: incarceration; or loss of freedom of movement.

A bit like one of The Simpsons halloween episodes, but it was dolphins that took over. We humans were then forced to live in the sea.

It was JUST like that, actually. Except on a slightly bigger scale. The killer whales slithering through the streets of St Andrews were a sight to behold.

If it makes you feel any better (I realise it probably doesn't) at some point during this dream I was also dancing a waltz with Gordon Brown. I'm sure that has to be someone's worst fear.

LAND SHARK!

As for me; Sadako.... the only thing I ever have nightmares about now. Which is wierd, cos the film itself really wasn't very scary.

The worst one was where I was walking across the North Bridge in Edinburgh, and suddenly every single person in the city stopped walking, the cars turned off their engines and it became perfectly quiet. Then they all turned into Sadako and swivelled to look right at me. Every single person in the city. It was horrible. Ugh.

Still, its difficult for most people to dress up as 6 year old Japanese girls with hair over their faces so I've never had to deal with it at parties.

I take it they're found reasonably far south in England? I've got this image in my head of huge spiders being stopped at Hadrian's Wall by some sort of special patrol, possibly the A Team.

What a great image! The Spider Police - they stop all the immigrant spiders crossing the border.

Being possessed by evil.

It helps that I believe it can/ does happen. I periodically say "God, don't ever let that happen to me, I wouldn't be able to handle it." and "Go away you stupid fucking devil, you cunt bastard, I don't want to be possessed by you. Go away. I don't like you. I'm not taking any of that shit. I'd personally kick your ass if I could." and such things. I want to make it clear that I am not a good candidate for that job.

Like I said, I believe it does happen, so that helps it more scary, becausek, to me, it's a rational fear. If someone feared that Superman would personally come down from flying above her head and kill her, that's not the same because Superman is unbelievable to me. Especially if how the movies and television show it is true-to-life, I want no part in it.

Anyone ever see the Emily Rose movie, which was from a real-life court case against the exorcism priest? The other priest really did die in a freak car accident, the defense attorney says that freaky things really did happen to her. Emily Rose's taped testimony is real, it's in real court transcripts.

Yeah, I don't even like the thought of seeing nice celestial bodies. I fear angels. Isn't that weird?
