i disagree. i think it should be to do with land mass of each nation within the UK as that is how each one is defined. not by its population.
Hmm, by that measure, Russia should be a lot more important in the world than it arguably is these days.
I do find the England-centric nature of "Britain" to be somewhat annoying, though. Saying that, I identify myself as "British", rather than anything else. Perhaps because saying "yes, I'm half-English, quarter-Scottish, quarter-Welsh" is a bit of a mouthful.
