Rarely, although if there's a massive geomagnetic storm then you can see them at night.

There was a huge CME from the sun a day or so ago, if it had burst around ninety degrees widdershins it'd be COMING RIGHT FOR US and we'd get nice lights in the sky in exchange for crap mobile phone reception and low-flying airliners.

I remember we had it quite nicely a year and a bit ago. There was a really bright green glow over the direction of dundee.

When you see the pretty yellow circle thing move over the UK, take a walk up the beach and see if you can see anything. Obviously, it's more scientific than that, but I think it looks kinda cool...

...then again, that is only my opinion.

If you go to somewhere VERY dark, with little light pollution from street lights etc, you should be able to see the milky way stretching across the sky.

Some nights you may be able to see the northern lights, but at the moment they're only very feint.

I can quite often see feint patches of aurora, which look like clouds at first, but they change in synchrony with the low frequency hum that the aurora create.
