Comedians?

Postby Tony_Murray on Sun Nov 28, 2004 7:58 pm

Just wondering whether or not there are any good comedians in St.Andrews right now.

Has the Comedy Society been running any gigs in Aikmans (or anywhere else)?

Have their been any good pro's in town on the Comedy Network Circuit?

yeah chris jones of the english department seems to be the best comedian around: not only has he handed out retarted essay questions, but he wants them handed in at 12 noon tomorrow and will deduct 3 marks for anything handed in later than that.
funny peculiar? funny ha-ha? no...just funny fucked-up.

^ oh...miaow!

Does seem a bit of an asshole if he expects then 2moro - or will deduct marks, when did you get them handed out?

to be fair to the great man, we have had them for ages, the titles are not impossible and my complaining comes purely from a lack of application, on my part, to the task in hand!!

So he's not so much the comedian - more that you're the joker...

Well, speaking in my official capacity as the Deputy Vice-President of Comedy Sock (I was Vice-President, but got demoted at the AGM meeting for sleeping through a gig), I can honestly say that I have no idea what's going on with Comedy Sock this year. The Sock is, and has always been, the unfortunate love child of Tony, the President, and I haven't heard from him this year. I think he may be bogged down with the whole "I'm a fourth year student" thing, which is understandable.

Anyhow, you could always drop him a line at comedysock@hotmail.com to see if anything's going to happen...I'm not sure.

For other comedy news, there is still the improvised comedy group Blind Mirth (think Whose Line Is It Anyway but in St. Andrews, not on the TV). They'll be doing various gigs this year (I think they're set to do the Christmas Ball, the Ambassadors Ball and some Apricot evenings).

It's a shame that the Union isn't bringing up comedians to perform in Venue 2 like they did last year, but I can understand why. The shows were awesome, but not staggeringly attended.

If you're interested in doing comedy I used to do comedy in St. Andrews 2 years ago with 2 other guys: Harry Gooch and John Lynch (along with Andrew Lawerence). Fancy doing some in the New Year?? Let me know...
