Drunk-ed

Postby mia_bt on Fri Jan 21, 2005 3:08 pm

While listening in on some random peoples intelligent conversation they made a very good point,

in Scotland if you add -ed to about 60% of nouns you get a term meaning drunk:

hammered
bladdered
pissed
floored
.....

Its fab!!

Can anyone think of the best new one???

But for authenticity/nedness you have to pronounce it "-t" (with a glottlestop). As in "blootert", "wankert", etc...

do you mean to say that an authentic Scottish accent is basically a Nedy one??????????
Blatantly not the case everywhere in Scotland since there lots of differetn accents and not all are nedy!

but yes that is how it is done ;)

In Ayr the phrase "you're drunk" is pronounced "fuck you". Really.
