"There is some good in this world, Mr Frodo, and it's worth fighting for".

No, it's not, you dick. What world are you living in anyway? Oh yeah, right, Middle Earth it is, eh?

and Stars forever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
nor bid the stars farewell!
Are you a terrorist?

I dunno about movie quotes but i was reading a book with the worst quote ever the other day:
'her eyes flicked around the room like a bird flitting from branch to branch'

[hr]
Now i am floating, i feel released, the moorings have been dropped, the weights unleashed. Everything is crystalline, simple and free
Ich will die Ruhe stören...

Any of the lines that Alec Guiness was given for Star Wars. A complete waste of his talent.

Random Hearts is the worst film EVER, all the lines in that are shite. i thought the last line of bridget jones' diary was bad she says 'nice boys don't kiss like that' and he says 'oh yes they fucking do!' i hated that the first time but then reflected on the fabulousness that is colin firth and all was forgiven.

It's a terrible line, but has it's uses.

How about the classic:

"no one puts Baby in a corner"

Patrick Swayze to Jennifer Gray in Dirty Dancing. It doesn't get more tacky and horrible than that.

Would that be...

"You know what happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightening?" [unnecessary and gratutious dramatic pause] "They same thing that happens to everything else!"

Obviously the result is that you fly about 100m and dropped into the Atlantic. Golfers , beware.

last of the mohicans, when the woman gets captured, just before the montage of the man running up the mountain to rescue her:

'wherever you go...what ever happens I...WILL...FIND...YOU!'

Morpheus' eight thousand year speech in The Matrix Reloaded. Can't quote it, but it's just dismal.

really, any quote from the matrix (and I'm talking about the first one, the second ones are no-brainers when it comes to this) could be listed here. They just look extremely stupid written down.

look:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/quotes

things like:
"Neo, sooner or later you're going to realize just as I did that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path. "

Which *sounded* cool in the movie when it first came out.
But it's mostly mumbo-jumbo.

Yes. Yes it is. It's a fictional book set in a fictional land called 'Middle Earth' you see, and the idea that people can be nice to each other isn't entirely stupid either. You could have said any of the lines when Frodo and Sam look at each other and you start to wonder how close a friend Sam really wants to be, especially the 'Don't joke about that', 'I wasn't' one.

Good thread though.

The one in Notting Hill when Hugh Grant is talking about 'just being a boy looking at a girl' is pretty bad too.

Any of John Malkovich's lines in Con Air. Almost every one said with a dramatic lift/pauses/scary face look. Really pissing annoying.

It's Julia Roberts who's talking about being just a girl standing in front of a boy. Hugh is actually blameless here.
